Monchengladbach finished sixth in Bundesliga last season. Their leading scorer was Raffael Araújo, who netted 15 goals last year. With their sixth-place finish, Monchengladbach failed to reach the UEFA Champions League but they did qualify for Europa League play, along with VfL Wolfsburg.
This offseason, the club bolstered their defense by adding left back Fabian Johnson, who represented the United States at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Monchengladbach's could also see a boost from 23-year-old German midfielder Andre Hahn, who previously played for FC Augsburg.
