Hamburg adds midfielder Lewis Holtby on loan from Tottenham

Hamburg has added midfielder Lewis Holtby on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Hamburg has added midfielder Lewis Holtby on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, Tottenham announced Monday.

According to Tottenham, the deal is for the rest of the season and Holtby will look to sign with Hamburg long term next summer.

The 23-year-old began his career in 2007 in Germany's second division and moved on to Schalke 04 in 2009 before joining Tottenham in January of 2013. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham.

Holtby made 25 Premier League appearances with Tottenham, scoring one goal. He's also earned three caps with the German national team.

Hamburg has also added U.S. international Julian Green on loan for the season from Bayern Munich.
