English Premier League club Arsenal and Turkish side Galatasaray will meet on Oct. 1 in London in the second UEFA Champions League fixture for both clubs. Arsenal dropped its first match of the group stage to Borussia Dortmund, while Galatasaray was able to earn one point in a draw with Anderlecht. 

The two sides are members of Group D. 

Arsenal is dealing with a number of injuries. Jack Wilshere is active for Arsenal, though he is doubtful to start and may not play at all. Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta are out after sustaining injuries against Tottenham last weekend, while Theo Walcott, Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud notably remain sidelined with injuries. Arsenal plays Premier League-leading Chelsea on Sunday.

Arsenal facts

The Gunners currently sit in fourth-place in the Barclays Premier League table, behind Chelsea, Southampton and Aston Villa. Arsenal holds the tiebreaker over Swansea City for the No. 4 spot. 

Last year, Arsenal advanced out of Group F before falling to eventual semifinalist Bayern Munich in the first round of the knockout stage. 

Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez currently lead the club in scoring with two goals apiece in Premier League play. 

Arsenal has never won the UEFA Champions League, but it does hold two other European titles and 13 domestic league titles. The Gunners' best finish in a Champions League tournament came in 2006, when the club fell to Barcelona 2-1 in the final. 

Arsenal defeated Turkish club Beşiktaş​ in August in Champions League qualifying.

Galatasaray facts

Galatasaray advanced out of the group stage of the Champions League a year ago but fell in the Round of 16 to Chelsea, an eventual semifinalist. 

The best finish for Galatasaray came in the 1988-89 tournament, in which the club reached the semifinals before losing to tournament runners-up Steaua Bucureşti.

Galatasaray is currently tied with Akhisar Belediyespor, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş for first-place in the Turkish Super Lig with seven points.

Galatasaray holds 49 domestic titles, including 19 Super Lig titles, 15 Turkish Cups and 13 Turkish Super Cups, all records.

UEFA currently ranks Galatasaray as the No. 34 team in Europe.
