Athletic Bilbao gets win at Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League

LVIV, Ukraine (AP) — Athletic Bilbao beat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday after the group's other result had already put the hosts through to the knockout stage.

Bilbao neutralized a Shakhtar attack that had scored 12 goals in the previous two group games before center back Mikel San Jose scored the winner from close range in the 68th minute.

Earlier, Porto's 3-0 victory at BATE Borisov ensured Shakhtar would advance.

Porto has 13 points and is guaranteed to finish first in Group H after Shakhtar was left on eight points.

Bilbao's first win in the group left it on four points, while BATE has three. The two will play in the final round with a Europa League berth as the prize for the third-place finisher.
