Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will miss the next three months after having surgery on his left ankle, the club announced on Thursday.

Wilshere, 22, was injured in the first half of Arsenal's loss to Manchester United on Nov. 22. He has a history of ankle injuries and missed time last season with a fractured foot.

In seven Premier League games this season, Wilshere has one goal and one assist.

Arsenal currently sits in eighth place in the Premier League with 17 points. The club plays at West Bromwich on Saturday at 7:45 a.m. ET.
