SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) — Helped by an own goal from Romelu Lukaku, Southampton beat Everton 3-0 Saturday to end its four-game losing streak in the Premier League.

The Saints went ahead at St Mary's after Lukaku inadvertently turned James Ward-Prowse's cross into his own net in the 38th.

Graziano Pelle doubled the lead, scoring at close range past United States goalkeeper Tim Howard in the 65th.

Maya Yoshida put the game beyond any doubt with a header into the bottom right corner in the 82nd off a cross from Steven Davis.

Southampton has twice gone on four-game winning streaks this season but had last won in the league on Nov. 8 when it beat Leicester 2-0. It stays fifth with 29 points from 17 games, eight points ahead of mid-table Everton.

Ronald Koeman's team lost on Tuesday in the League Cup quarterfinals to third-tier Sheffield United — a fifth successive defeat in all competitions.

That loss had repercussions far beyond denting confidence as suspension and injury problems mounted, yet Southampton rallied to inflict on Everton its third straight away defeat in the league.

Koeman tweeted: "Back to winning ways! Great team performance against Everton."
