A look at some discriminatory incidents in Russian football

A look at some of the incidents highlighted in the report from the Moscow-based SOVA Center and the Fare network, which helps to prosecute racism cases for European football's governing body UEFA. London-based Fare says Russian football is plagued by a racist and far-right extremist fan culture that threatens the safety of visitors to the 2018 World Cup. Following are some of the incidents Fare mentions in its report, which covers two years from 2012-2014.

ASSAULTS

July 2012: Far-right Zenit St. Petersburg fans' group attacked anti-fascist fans and took away banners.

September 2012: CSKA Moscow fans attacked anti-fascists and several people ended up with brain concussions.

March 2013: Spartak Moscow targeted people of ''non-Slavic'' appearance.

November 2012: ''White power'' banners displayed by Rostov fans at Anzhi Makhachkala.

August 2013: Dynamo Moscow fans displayed ''White Power'' banner.

January 2013: Video published online of CSKA fans burning a Koran.

March 2013: Mordovia Saransk fans found their way to Anzhi's changing room where a bunch of bananas was left.

October 2013: CSKA Moscow fans display banner with a swastika and shout racist insults at black Manchester City player Yaya Toure.

March 2013: At Rubin Kazan, Lokomotiv Moscow fans marched on the stadium performing Nazi salutes.

January 2014: Neo-Nazi group in cooperation with Zenit ultras conducted football tournament to support imprisoned neo-Nazis.
