LONDON (AP) — West Ham striker Diafra Sakho scored a late winner to inflict a 1-0 defeat Saturday on Dick Advocaat in his first match in charge of Sunderland and finally bring some cheer back to Upton Park.

It looked set to be another frustrating Premier League afternoon for West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, who is out of contract in the summer, before Sakho slotted home with just two minutes left.

That gave West Ham a first league win since Jan. 18 and left Dutchman Advocaat in no doubt of the hard work ahead to secure Sunderland's top-flight status.

Sunderland remained 17th, one spot above the relegation zone, while West Ham moved up to ninth.

Adam Johnson came off the Sunderland bench on 73 minutes. The 27-year-old England international, who has been bailed until April 28 following his arrest on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl under 16, returned to training this week following a club suspension.
