The Premier League has agreed to share approximately $1.49 billion of its new TV deal with English football

The Premier League has agreed to share approximately $1.49 billion of its new TV deal with English football's lower-league sides and grassroots, according to BBC.

In February, the league struck a new three-year domestic television rights deal in the United Kingdom that is worth $7.8 billion. Sky Sports and BT Sport won rights to the deal, which runs from 2016-2019.

The Premier League teams also agreed Thursday to pay all full-time staff the living wage, which is based on what a person needs to cover the cost of living, by the start of the 2016-17 season, according to BBC.

There were also five areas the teams agreed to invest in: Grassroots facilities, participation, fan engagement and match day experience, solidarity with lower leagues and supporting disadvantaged groups.
