Argentina-Brazil World Cup qualifying match postponed due to rain

The World Cup qualifying match between Argentina and Brazil at Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires was postponed just a few minutes before the scheduled kick-off time Thursday.

The World Cup qualifying match between Argentina and Brazil at Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires was postponed just a few minutes before the scheduled kick-off time Thursday.

According to BBC.com, Brazilian officials said that fans were unable to reach the stadium due to heavy traffic.

Images from inside the stadium showed empty stands and a flooded pitch. 

The match has been rescheduled for Friday at 9 p.m. local time. 

The match is the third for both Argentina and Brazil in the South American preliminaries for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Brazil currently sits sixth in the group with three points, while Argentina is eighth with just one point.
