Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are out for Saturday’s game against Watford, the team announced Friday.

Rooney will miss due to illness, and Martial will be sidelined with the foot injury he sustained in England’s 2–0 victory over France on Tuesday. Martial was seen leaving Wembley Stadium on crutches with his ankle wrapped.

Midfielders Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are also dealing with injuries. In total, six players for Manchester United will not make the trip to face Watford with Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia out as well.

Premier League to play La Marseillaise before all of this weekend’s matches

“I think that everybody knows Michael Carrick and Anthony Martial are injured, but also injured is Marouane Fellaini,” manager Louis van Gaal said to MUTV on Friday. “That's a surprise because I thought he was recovered after the international break, but still he is injured. And that's a big blow because Rooney is ill, so we have a big problem, I think.”

Rooney has scored two goals this season while Martial has tallied three.

Entering Saturday’s match, Manchester United sits fourth in the Premier League table with 24 points. The match between Manchester United and Watford is set for 7:45 a.m. ET.
