Barcelona forward Neymar signed a new five-year deal with the club, ESPN Brasil reports.

Neymar, 24, reportedly signed the contract back in December while the team was in Japan for the FIFA Club World Cup. The announcement has been delayed thanks to tax evasion issues involving the player and Spanish and Brazilian authorities. The new deal runs through June 2021, tacking on three years to his contract and making him the second-highest paid player on the team after Lionel Messi.

Neymar finished third in the Ballon d’Or race last season and has been influential since joining the club in 2013 from Brazilian club Santos. He signed for an announced $74 million, but investigations revealed Barcelona spent close to $90 million to bring him in.
