Norwich City-West Brom Preview

Though West Bromwich Albion have distanced themselves from the relegation zone, they won't get too caught up in their current run of Premier League success.

The Baggies might have a good chance to extend that unbeaten surge to five straight matches Saturday against visiting Norwich City, who haven't won in 2 1/2 months.

On the cusp of cracking the top half of the table with 39 points, West Brom (10-9-10) won't take anything granted amid their current resurgence.

''As you've seen this year, results have been off the radar (in the Premier League),'' manager Tony Pulis said. ''Let's get 40 points. I think that's definitely safe.

"Then try to get as many points as we can after that."

The Baggies have scored seven times during their current 3-1-0 league run after managing one goal while going 0-2-2 over the previous four. Salomon Rondon has been a big reason for the turnaround with three of his team-leading seven goals coming in the last four league games, including the last two contests.

His tally in the 66th minute against 10-man Manchester United was the difference in West Brom's 1-0 home victory March 6.

"I am happy," Rondon said. "I need more goals."

The Venezuelan striker has had to wait to get the chance at another after West Brom's scheduled match with Arsenal last weekend was postponed because of the Gunners' participation in the FA Cup.

Looking to win a third straight league home contest and go undefeated in seven consecutive matches at The Hawthorns for the first time since 2004-05, West Brom won't be facing the same calibre of opponent as Arsenal.

Norwich (6-7-17) are at the top of the drop on 25 points, tied with Sunderland, who remains above the line with one game in hand. The Canaries also have an inferior goal difference to the Black Cats with eight matches remaining.

However, the Baggies fell 3-0 at Norwich in League Cup play Sept. 23. They avenged that defeat Oct. 24 when Rondon scored in the 46th minute of a 1-0 win at Carrow Road.

This will be the clubs' first meeting at The Hawthorns since Dec. 7, 2013.

Norwich have won three of the last four there over all competitions, but tallied one goal and been blanked in four straight matches while dropping six on the bounce on the road since a stunning 2-1 win at Old Trafford on Dec. 19. A loss Saturday would equal the Canaries' longest league road skid.

Including FA Cup action, Norwich have totaled eight goals during an 0-2-9 stretch that followed back-to-back wins over Aston Villa on Dec. 28 and Southampton on Jan. 2. They earned a bit of a moral victory by snapping a three-game skid with last Saturday's scoreless draw against Manchester City.

"We all needed this," forward Patrick Bamford told Norwich's official website. "The point helps us turn things around, particularly coming against a big team like Manchester City.

"It's a massive result for us but now we'll move onto next week with positive thoughts. We want to use this to build some momentum."

As has been the case most of the season, the Canaries need to find some offence. Nathan Redmond's 68th-minute score in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea on March 1 is their lone goal in the last four matches. That's the only one of Redmond's team-leading five league goals in his last 19 matches.
