President Barack Obama’s daughters are apparently big Lionel Messi fans.

While on a trip to the the soccer star's home country of Argentina to meet the nation’s new president Mauricio Marci, Obama said his daughters would like a chance to meet Messi.

“But I also wanted to bring my daughters here, so they could see the beauty and and the vibrancy of this city,” Obama said during his speech at the state dinner in Buenos Aires. “They’ve already met one famous Argentinean—His Holiness Pope Francis. Now they want to meet Messi, but I could not arrange that.”

Unfortunately, Messi was not in Argentina during Obama‘s visit, as he and the Argentina national team are currently in Chile in preparation for the World Cup qualifying match on Friday.
