Sunderland can't break through in 0-0 EPL draw vs West Brom

SUNDERLAND, England (AP) Sunderland moved further from survival with a 0-0 draw against West Bromwich Albion in an English Premier League game it should have won on Saturday.

West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster earned a point for the Baggies, and Sunderland had a last-minute goal by Dame N'Doye disallowed for offside.

Foster made important saves from Lee Cattermole, Jan Kirchhoff, two from Fabio Borini, and another from Jermain Defoe at the death as the Black Cats again failed to profit from the opportunities they created.

Despite a first clean sheet in 18 games for Sam Allardyce's side, Sunderland remains 18th in the league, and trails Norwich by four points.

West Brom left the Stadium of Light having reached 40 points, often considered the safety mark for EPL teams.
