MLS: Own goal helps Galaxy tie Timbers, Sounders equalize late, more

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Fanendo Adi opened the scoring for Portland in the 52nd minute, and Nat Borchers' own goal in the 84th helped the Los Angeles Galaxy tie the Timbers 1-1 on Sunday night.
Diego Valeri's diagonal lead pass set up Adi as he peeled away from the defensive back line and finished with a low right-footed shot — his fourth goal of the season.
Borchers made a diving attempt to clear Sebastian Lletget's cross, but inadvertently smashed the header into the Timbers' goal.
The Timbers (1-2-2) have one win at StubHub Center in eight visits; the Galaxy (2-1-2) extended their unbeaten run to 39 of the last 41 home games.
Galaxy defender Robbie Rogers left in the eighth minute due to a hip contusion. Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe exited in the 76th after a leg injury from Nigel de Jong's tackle. Referee Allen Chapman gave de Jong a yellow card for the challenge.
DYNAMO 1, SOUNDERS 1
HOUSTON (AP) — Chad Marshall scored in the 94th minute to give Seattle the tie with Houston.
Marshall buried the finish from a behind the 6-yard box after Oalex Anderson's cross deflected off goalkeeper Joe Willis and defender Raul Rodriguez. The final whistle blew shortly after the ensuing kickoff to give Seattle (1-3-1) its first draw of the season.
Giles Barnes scored for Houston (1-2-2) in the 35th minute. He was facing away from the ball when Jalil Anibaba made a pass, turned around in time to see it coming his way and improvised a 15-yard turnaround flick that looped into the upper left corner.
NEW YORK CITY FC 0, FIRE 0
NEW YORK (AP) — Matt Lampson had eight saves for his third straight shutout and the Chicago held on for a scoreless draw with New York City FC.
David Villa put five shots on frame for New York City (1-1-3), including a free kick in the 83th minute and a breakaway attempt in the 84th that forced Lampson to make key saves late.
The Fire (1-1-3) had no shots on goal but had rookie Jonathan Campbell's goal in the 60th minute waived due to an offside call.
