Arsenal Set to Sign 16-Year-Old Feyenoord Wonderkid Joshua Zirkzee This Summer
Arsenal are close to signing Feyenoord wonderkid Joshua Zirkzee, who reportedly rejected the chance to stay at the Dutch club, according to the International Business Times,
The 16-year-old, who only joined Feyenoord from ADO Den Haag last summer, would become Arsene Wenger's third summer signing and would surely boost the Gunners' youth ranks, having lost promising prospects Chris Willock and Daniel Crowley to Benfica and Willem II respectively.
The coveted young forward, who scored 33 goals for the Eredivisie club for various youth levels, is very highly regarded by Feyenoord and was reportedly offered the chance to be promoted to the U19 set up, where he scored the winner against PSV Eindhoven in his only appearance for that age range
The Netherlands U16 international looked set to stay in Holland and move to Ajax, only for his head to be turned by the interest from the North London club. If a move to the Emirates were to materialise, Zirkzee would be unlikely to be involved in the first-team setup, instead joining the academy where he could potentially work with Steve Gatting in the U23 setup.
Manchester United were also rumoured to be interesting in acquiring Zirkzee's signature, although Wenger looks to have beaten his old foe Jose Mourinho in convincing the young prodigy to sign for the Gunners instead.
