Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is hoping the club will announce a new signing in the next few days, with for Chelsea man John Terry being the only confirmed summer signing thus far.

Sam Johnstone, who spent time on loan at Villa Park last season, is highly expected to be the new arrival at Aston Villa.

The goalkeeper will be joining on a temporary basis from parent club Manchester United and is expected to become Bruce's first choice keeper right off the bat, according to HITC reports.

"When you play for a big club, or you manage a big club like Aston Villa, then you have to have big players who can handle that," Bruce said in regards to new faces at Villa.

"I hope we can do a bit of business pretty soon.

"If you can get the players in early and get them settled before the season starts it’s obviously an enormous help.

"We hope to be able to announce something in the next 24 to 48 hours."

Villa's French full-back Jordan Amavi was set to complete his move to Sevilla this week ahead of a proposed £7m transfer, however, the Spanish side detected a problem in one of the defender's knees following an injury he sustained at the beginning of the 2015/16 Premier League season.

As a result, Sevilla have pulled out of the transfer and Villa will have to look for a new destination for Amavi following the failed medical tests.
