Aston Villa Re-Sign Manchester United Keeper Sam Johnstone on Season-Long Loan Deal

​Aston Villa have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal, the club have confirmed.

The 24-year-old will now re-join the Claret and Blues after spending six months with the club last season, making 22 appearances for in that time.

Johnstone is now set to link up with Steve Bruce's squad as they continue their preparations ahead of the new season.

The 24-year-old kept eight clean sheets with a 90% claim success for the club last season, and has previously had loan spells with the likes of Scunthorpe United, Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End. 

Johnstone spoke of his delight after he put pen to paper on his loan deal, he said: “I am delighted to be back.

“I really enjoyed my last spell here – it’s a great club with top players and passionate fans. I can’t wait to get started now. I believe it can be a special season for all of us and I will be working hard each and every day to produce the kind of performances that will help us achieve what we’re aiming for.”
