Fulham Close in on £5m Deal for Bordeaux Striker Diego Rolan
Fulham are closing in on the signing of Bordeaux forward Diego Rolan, according to Sky Sports.
The English outfit has reportedly agreed to a £5m deal with for the attacker.
Rolan is now in London to meet with Fulham, who are looking to convince the 24-year-old to ply his trade at Craven Cottage next season. It is said that Rolan has been the subject of interest from Premier League clubs as well.
Previously, reportslinked Newcastle with a move for the Uruguay international. In fact, with Fulham yet to complete a deal for Rolan a couple of days ago, the Magpies were tipped to take advantage.
Benitez was reportedly determined to complete at least four more signings by the end of this summer's transfer window, with Rolan emerging as a target after the forward returned from a trip to London without agreeing to a deal with Fulham.
Rolan will likely depart in some form by the end of the transfer window, given that he only has a year left on his current contract. A failure to complete a deal this summer would see Rolan leave Bordeaux on a free transfer.
The Uruguayan demonstrated an eye for goal last season, scoring 10 goals in 31 appearances. Rolan's efforts played a key role in helping Bordeaux to a sixth place finish in Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, Fulham's have begun their pre-season preparations for the 2017/18 campaign. The Whites recently faced off against Antonio Conte's Chelsea side in a behind closed doors friendly match. Unfortunately for Slaviša Jokanović and company, the match was a very one-sided affair, as Chelsea cruised to a resounding 8-2 victory.
