Leicester are prepared to offer a more lucrative wage packet to Gylfi Sigurdsson in an attempt to persuade him to come to the King Power Stadium instead of Everton.

Sigurdsson, who scored nine goals and assisted 13 times in the Premier League 2017/18, caught the eye of several Premier League suitors. Everton have emerged as the favourites for the Icelandic star's signature in recent days, as it looks increasingly likely that his future lies away from the Liberty Stadium.

Leicester are also reportedly keen, whilst old club Tottenham are also keeping him on their radar should a deal for Ross Barkley not materialise.

Now, initial outsiders Leicester are hoping that by offering more money, they can turn Sigurdsson's head. According to the Daily Mailthe Foxes have offered the 27-year-old a deal worth £125,000-per-week in a bid to lure him to the King Power Stadium.

Leicester also are prepared to gazump the bid made by Everton for the Icelandic midfielder. Both clubs have been told that they will have to pay an eye-watering £50m, but Leicester are more than prepared to match whatever Everton will pay.

With a large sum potentially coming their way should Riyad Mahrez depart, Craig Shakespeare will want to reinvest - with Sigurdsson the preferred choice. However, whether Swansea will budge from their inflated asking price for the creative midfielder remains to be seen.
