Newcastle United are closing in on a deal for Norwich City and England Under-21 winger Jacob Murphy, according to reports.
Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly close to securing the signature of the highly-rated youngster, despite competition from Premier League rivals Southampton and Crystal Palace, as business begins to accelerate on Tyneside, as reported by the Mirror.
A nine-goal return in 2016/17 meant that the 22-year-old had already been on the radar of several top tier sides going into the Under-21 European Championships this summer, but a successful tournament both for England as a team and for Murphy personally has strengthened the demand.
The Young Lions reached the semi-finals, with Murphy scoring England's crucial second in a 3-0 win over joint hosts Poland in the quarter-finals.
While all three suitors are said to be willing to meet Norwich's £8m asking price, the player himself may favour linking up with Benitez at St James' Park over a move to Selhurst Park or St Mary's.
