Nottingham Forest Youngster Offered Place at Training Camp With Leicester City
Leicester City have reportedly offered a trial to the young Nottingham Forest defender Frederik Nielsen. The 19-year-old Danish defender will join the Foxes for a six week training camp over the summer before Leicester make a decision as to whether or not they offer him a contract.
Speaking to the Nottingham Post , Nielsen said: "I love summer vacation now, but on July 2 I am going back to England to begin a training camp for six weeks with Leicester City. Leicester have given me a training programme.
"A fairly detailed programme where I need to make sure to keep myself fit by weight training, running, cycling and swimming."
Nielsen arrived in Nottingham in 2014 from Danish side Viborg, but is yet to make a first team appearance for the Championship side. His opportunities at the City Ground have been limited to Forest's under-23 side and he made it clear in April of his desire to leave at the end of the season.
The Dane had a brief trail spell at Barnsley, but it seems that Leicester is his preferred destination:
"They have been highest on my list. They can offer me a lot of training. The intensity is the best I've tried."
Nielsen praised the work rate of the 2015-16 Premier League champions saying that: "I really believe that I can develop further there. Their physical department is really good and Leicester are known for working hard on the pitch."
With long-standing defender Marcin Wasilewski leaving the Foxes there is a gap in the squad for another defender to be back-up to Wes Morgan and Robert Huth. Nielsen could be one to watch in the future for the Foxes.
