Newly-promoted Brighton have expressed their confidence in signing Liverpool defender Joe Gomez this summer.
The young centre-back, who can also play at left-back, has worked his way back from a long term knee injury, and could be playing in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old ruptured his ACL early on in his Anfield career, which will undoubtedly have slowed down his development.
Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of Gomez, and even scouted him during his time as Borussia Dortmund manager and will have a decision to make on the former Charlton Athletic prospect.
The Argus report that Seagulls boss Chris Hughton is hopeful of securing a temporary move for Gomez, but that big fan Klopp is not in any rush to sanction of loan deal.
It may well be that the future of the England U21 international could depend on Liverpool signing a new centre-half, after a move to bring Virgil van Dijk to the club fell through.
They have also been linked Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly and Stefan De Vrij of Lazio, and the signing of either of those players could determine what happens to Gomez this summer.
Brighton remain hopeful they can secure Gomez, after already signing goalkeeper Maty Ryan for a club record £5m fee.
