Southampton have won the internet. Game over. They have single-handedly taken the absolute mickey out of football's often cringey and competitive social media signing announcements with an immense video themselves.

The Saints captioned the video "Are we doing this right?" and the answer is definitely yes, but the extravagant satire piece did actually announce a new one-year deal for goalkeeper Stuart Taylor.

The video may have alluded to a grander new addition but there is no doubt Taylor will be overjoyed by such effort to announce his extension at St Mary's.

The 36-year-old joined the Saints early last season to provide additional support to the goal keeping ranks and he has now agreed to extend his stay through the 2017/18 season, according to Southampton's website

Taylor will continue to back up Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy and continue sharing his knowledge from his career which saw him win two Premier League titles and an FA Cup.

Southampton's Vice Chairman, Les Reed said: “Stuart was a fantastic presence in the squad last season, and the support he offered to his fellow goalkeepers and his teammates as a whole was first-class.

“We are very pleased that he will again be part of the squad for the coming season."Speaking about the new deal.

"I'm obviously delighted to have signed for another year.

“It's a great bunch of lads and a great group, and I'm looking forward to working again with a great goalkeeper coach and a great squad of goalkeepers.”

For that video alone there will be many supporters, not just Southampton's, that are happy that Taylor extended his time at the club, truly a masterstroke by the club.
