VIDEO: Cheeky Liverpool Fan Tracks Southampton's Virgil Van Dijk Down to Ask Him to Join the Reds

Liverpool fans have been desperate for any indication that Southampton's Virgil van Dijk is on his way to Anfield this summer.

Following a retraction of interest and apology from the Reds' earlier in the summer due to their allegations of 'tapping up' the defender, a transfer seemed unlikely but may now be back on, if the latest reports are to be believed.

With the 'will they, won't they' narrative becoming too much to bear for some, a member of the Liverpool faithful has taken things into his own hands by tracking the centre-back down on his pre-season ventures with the Saints.

The video posted on Twitter saw the fan yell at the Dutch international as he disembarked from the team bus, he shouted: "Van Dijk come to Liverpool!"

The fan seemed to gain the attention of the centre-back and there's no doubt he heard exactly what the Liverpool fan said, it just remains to be seen whether it had the desired effect or not.

However, the interaction did catch the attention of what appeared to be a member of the Saints staff, who retorted: "We've given you too many."

That's the very reason why a loyalty scheme should now come in handy for Liverpool right?

As they have cherry picked the likes of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Sadio Mane for millions of pounds in only a handful of seasons.

So surely one more can't hurt, and at least if Van Dijk did make the move when Southampton face Liverpool next season the Saints faithful can just boo the entire games as the odds are a former player will be on the ball.
