West Ham Reportedly Give Up in Pursuit of Championship Star Scott Hogan Over High £15m Valuation
West Ham's move for Brentford's Scott Hogan, which at one point seemed certain to go through, looks to have collapsed as a result of the Championship club staying firm on a £15m valuation of the striker, according to Sky Sports.
Hogan was said to favour a move to the London Stadium, but the Bees have refused to allow his departure until an acceptable bid comes their way. West Ham have already snapped up Jose Fonte from Southampton and Robert Snodgrass from Hull, but they desperately need a striker.
The failure of the move will be a massive disappointment to the Hammers, unless Slaven Bilic decides to rejoin the race with another bid. Having said that, the door is now open for other clubs to steal Hogan away from under the Croatian's nose before the 11pm deadline.
Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has informed Brentford of his interest in Hogan as he looks to secure the Eagles' Premier League future against the threat of relegation. West Brom's Tony Pulis is another who has had talks with Hogan, Saido Berahino having departed to Stoke.
Despite the Premier League interest, it is Championship club Aston Villa who are favourites to claim his signature.
A bigger club than any of the three other interested parties despite their Championship status, it would not be a surprise to see Hogan off to the Midlands.
