Liverpool have reportedly offered Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa a five-year contract worth in the region of £12.5m - which is said to have tempted the 22-year-old to switch the Wanda Metropolitano for Anfield.

However, Correa is hoping Liverpool can raise the proposed yearly figure to £4m, which totals to £77,000-a-week before he makes the decision to leave Atleti this summer.

According to Foot Mercato (via the Metro) Liverpool are currently in negotiations for the striker - following their five-year contract proposal - who could be allowed to leave the Spanish club if the Reds table a bid in excess of £25m.

With Atleti currently under a transfer ban - unable to register players until January 1 - the club would not be willing to let Correa go easily without being able to find a replacement for the 22-year-old, who played primarily as a back-up for Diego Simeone last term.

The Argentine started just 15 games in all competitions last season, but did show how high his ceiling could be if provided regular first-team action as he netted eight times and also provided eight assists.

Liverpool could offer the 22-year-old the opportunities he is seeking as the club is set to compete in four competitions next season and are seemingly still on the lookout for further additions to their attacking following the arrival of Mohamed Salah.

The highly-rated youngster remains contracted to Atleti until the summer of 2019 after joining the club from San Lorenzo in 2014, where he has shone through the middle or on the right flank - earning him comparisons to the likes of Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez.
