Tottenham Keeping Tabs on Leicester Star Riyad Mahrez But Will Not Pay £50m Asking Price
Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Riyad Mahrez's situation at Leicester this summer, as they maintain ambitions of signing the wantaway Algerian.
Mahrez - a target for both Roma and Spurs' London rivals Arsenal - has informed the Foxes' hierarchy that he wants to leave the King Power Stadium in order to pursue his lofty ambitions, but has turned out in pre-season with no issue thus far and does not appear to be willing to kick up a fuss in order to push through a move.
The club have slapped a whopping £50m price tag on the 2016 PFA Player of the Season's head in a bid to deter potential suitors, and the Evening Standard report that Spurs are not about to enter any race to sign if that valuation is not lowered.
Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare told reporters after the pre-season Asia trophy match with West Brom: "We want him to stay. I would like him to stay, as manager. As I say, he has stated his case clearly but, while he is here, I need that full commitment."
Spurs are the only Premier League team not to make a single signing yet this summer. As their rivals around them continue to strengthen, they look set to miss out on 19-year-old Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth despite initial talks over an £8m switch - Paris Saint-Germain are now his most likely destination.
Reports claim Mauricio Pochettino is still interested in Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, but have yet to make a concrete effort.
