The La Liga fixtures for the 2017/18 season have been released and it seems that former Champions  Atletico Madrid will face a challenging opening month.

The match-day fixtures show that Atletico will have to play three consecutive away games against Girona, Las Palmas and Valencia before the first home game in their new stadium - the Wanda Metropolitano.

The three consecutive away games come as a result of the final legs of construction for Atletico's new 68,000 seater stadium.

On the 17th September, Diego Simeone and his team will finally cut the ribbon at the Wanda Metropolitano in a home game hosting Malaga.

As a result of the starting three fixtures in August and September, Atletico Madrid will have an advantage come January 2018 as four of their five fixture will be held at home.

Los Rojiblancos are set to host their first Madrid derby at their new home on the 19th November.

Will the Wanda Metropolitano give Atletico the same luck and excellent form they maintained in recent years at the Vicente Calderon?
