Victor Lindelof's Fiancée Maja Nilsson has reacted on Twitter after the defender was left out of the squad for Manchester United's opening game of the season against West Ham.

The Sweden international is part of a host of talent brought in by boss Jose Mourinho this season which also includes Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic but while the others excelled in their first game, thrashing the Hammers 4-0, Lindelof was left watching at home.

After the centre-back completed his transfer from Benfica for £32m fans were looking forward to having a reliable partnership at the back that could potentially return them to the glory days when Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic bossed the backline. Mourinho however opted to pair Eric Bailly with Phil Jones while not even giving his new signing a place on the bench.

United still went on to dominate the match with West Ham barely having a touch of the ball, and while Lindelof wasn't playing his partner responded with the perfect tweet once his absence was confirmed. While drinking champagne in a luxury box she wrote: "This is where you’ll find me from now on."

Lindelof will be wanting more then to just spectate each week but after failing to impress during pre-season Mourinho will be looking for further improvement before putting him into the first team, treatment that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is all too familiar with.

Mourinho stated before the match that the team is now ready to compete for titles and they will be looking to continue their strong start to the season when they travel to Swansea on Saturday.
