On Match of the Day three things are certain almost every time: Gary Lineker offering a frank assessment of the day's action, Ian Wright giggling like a schoolgirl and Alan Shearer offering brutal honesty. Unfortunately, one fan was the latest to receive the wrath of the tough leading all-time Premier League top goal scorer.
After offering his opinion that Manchester United could be the title favourites on Twitter, one critique on social media aimed a negative response at the ex-England captain, before rightly being put in his place in a sarcastic reply.
Menacing? Since you are a football account you know EPL is a marathon not a sprint . I consider your article baseless and will unfollow you— DE FELICE (@Mas_Peach) August 14, 2017
Not one to hold back in a fight, like he did for much of his career as ruthless striker and flat-track bully, Shearer responded in kind, putting the internet troll in his place in a hilarious fashion.
Often in the eye of sceptical keyboard warriors who have an opinion on everything in the football world, on many occasions the Newcastle legend has been refreshing on the weekend's action since his retirement in 2006, where he has continued to work for the BBC in English football and for major international tournaments.
On the back of Manchester United's dominating opening day victory against West Ham, in which they opened up the east London side on countless occasions in a 4-0 victory, Shearer proclaimed they were 'menacing' throughout and he hasn't seen the Red Devils "move the ball around like that for a long time", tipping them to win the Premier League if they continue with such attacking displays.
For more than ten years he has been a knowledgeable pundit and a harsh critic, while also demonstrating not to be messed with by anybody.
