Barcelona will wear a special shirt with the word Barcelona on the back, instead of the players' names, against Real Betis on Sunday to pay tribute to victims of the terror attacks in the city on Thursday.

After the horrific incidents on Las Ramblas and in the town of Cambrils last week, there will be a minute's silence prior to their first game of th new La Liga season.

A statement from the club - via Sport - read: "The first team will wear a special shirt with ‘Barcelona’ on the back where their names are usually displayed in Sunday’s LaLiga opener against Real Betis. This is to pay homage to all the victims of the recent terror attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils.

"The club received special authorisation for this move from the RFEF, and LaLiga also gave permission to display the hashtag #TotsSomBarcelona on the chest of the shirt.

"Aside from these acts to pay tribute, there will be a minute’s silence before kick-off to commemorate all the victims and offer support to their friends and relatives, and all the citizens and visitors to the city.

"In addition, all the FC Barcelona players in the teams across the various sports and age divisions will wear a black armband in all the games taking place over the weekend."

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde also offered his support for the victims of the attacks.

“We would like to show our solidarity with the victims and their families in these difficult times,” he said. “We are here to help in any way we can.”
