Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has targeted a late move for talented Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, amid interest for other players in attempt to reshape his midfield.
Gomes has been garnering interest from a host of European clubs over the summer transfer window, after appearing unsettled during his first season at the La Liga giants. Juventus could be a likely destination for the midfielder as the Serie A side have registered interest in the player in the past.
Since joining Barcelona for a £35m fee, the 24-year-old has struggled for form at the club, managing only three goals in 30 appearances.
According to a report by Tuttosport, Juve are nearing the end of their search for a central midfielder and the club could make a formal bid for Gomes relatively soon. However the report also suggests the club are closer to signing Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman.
It is thought that Gomes is more likely to leave the club if the Catalan club secure a deal for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.
Allegri has tinkered with his Juve midfield this summer, with France international Blaise Matuidi joining the club in an £18m deal from Paris Saint-Germain last week. It is believed that either Strootman or Gomes will likely join Matuidi in a new look Juventus midfield this season.
Along with Matuidi, Juventus have made deals for a string of other midfield reinforcements. Federico Bernardeschi has been drafted in for a huge £36m fee and Boca Juniors youngster Rodrigo Bentancur for £9.45m. The club have also signed Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa on loan.
