Brighton are on the verge of announcing the signing of Club Brugge defender Stefano Denswil on a season-long loan deal, as confirmed by Sky Sports.

Denswil supposedly flew in last night and underwent his medical this morning, and the expectation is that an official announcement will made later in the day.

The 24-year-old had been at Brugge since 2015 after signing from Ajax, and the star is knocking on the door of the Netherlands senior side - he is currently capped at all youth levels.

He already has a few titles to his name from playing in Holland and Belgium, and he can also bring Champions League-level experience to Chris Hughton's squad.

Brighton have been extremely active this summer as they bid to stave of relegation to stay in the Premier League.

So far, they have added significant names in Mathew Ryan, Pascal Gross, Markus Suttner, Davy Propper, Izzy Brown and Jose Izquierdo to their ranks.

New £13.5m club-record signing Izquierdo also joined the club from Club Brugge, and it could well be that he played a part in the club making a move for Denswil.

Last year's Championship runners-up are not expected to sign any more players on deadline day, but nothing can ever be ruled out in what has been a crazy market thus far.
