Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to make a deadline day loan signing as Scott McTominay edges closer to a move, according to a report from the Express and Star.

The 20 year old Scottish youth international broke into the United first team at the end of last season and had impressed manager Jose Mourinho enough to include him on their pre-season tour to the United States.

The 6ft 4ins midfielder was tipped to be a part of Mourinho's plans in the first team this season, but it now seems that a loan move would be most beneficial for his development.

Wolves look the most likely to conclude a deal and if they are able to push the deal before the 11pm deadline on Thursday night, they would have built upon an already impressive transfer window.

It is believed that their first choice was Newcastle's Jack Colback, but they were not able to strike a deal with the Magpies, leaving them to pursue the Manchester United man.

Wolves are currently 4th in the Sky Bet Championship table and will be hoping that the potential signing of McTominay will boost their chances of promotion to the Premier League.
