Lyon defender Marcelo has received one of the most bizarre red cards you will see all season, after the referee mistakenly perceived him knocking out the yellow card out of his hand as an act of aggression.
The 30-year-old Brazilian was shown a yellow card for bringing down an Angers opponent on the edge of his box, with that decision alone somewhat controversial when looking back at replays.
However, the yellow soon turned into a red after Marcelo inadvertently flicked the card out of Mikael Lesage's hand, prompting the official to reach into his back pocket and send the Lyon man for an early bath.
The Ligue 1 heavyweights were winning 3-1 at the time, but only managed to leave the Stade Raymond Kopa with a point, as Angers rallied against the 10 men of Lyon to score twice before the final whistle.
Surely an appeal will be made by the club, with this one set to go down in the history books for silly red cards.
