Following Chelsea’s shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, they have been handed a major boost with the imminent return of top scorer Alvaro Morata.

The Blues have now lost two games on the spin, after losing 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to Manchester City prior to the international break, thanks to a stunning goal by the ever-impressive Kevin De Bruyne.

Palace had endured the worst start to a Premier League season since the division’s inception in 1992 prior to Saturday, with seven losses and no goals scored. However, their victory over the reigning champions could be just what they need to kick-start their season.

Chelsea had a number of injury problems with the likes of N’Golo Kante missing with a hamstring injury, however- reported by 101 Great Goals- Spain international Morata was present in first-team training on Sunday morning which bodes well for the west Londoners ahead of their Champions League clash against Roma this Wednesday.

Roma have had an equally disappointing weekend after losing 1-0 at home to Napoli in Serie A on Saturday.

Similarly, they also have a number of injury problems ahead of their European encounter at Stamford Bridge, with Patrik Schik, Gregoire Defrel and Emerson Palmieri all ruled out, not to mention key players Kevin Strootman and Stephan El Shaarawy all but certain to miss out on Wednesday.

To make matters worse, Roma endured more injuries in their clash versus Napoli, with Kostas Manolas forced off the field with a thigh injury which Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco has conceded that it makes it ‘practically impossible’ for Manolas to play on Wednesday.

Lorenzo Pellegrini is also a major doubt after being taken off against Napoli due to a muscular injury he sustained during the international break.

Going into Wednesday’s game, both Chelsea and Roma sit fifth in the Premier League and Serie A respectively, whilst the former sits first and the latter sits second in Group C of the Champions League.
