The Stat That Shows Why Dele Alli Is Tottenham's Main Man for the Big Occasion

As great as some footballers are, a criticism often aimed at those in the level below 'world class' is that they can't produce the goods in big matches.

Such tags are bandied about by football fans to take a really good player down a notch or two, but those wishing to use it as a stick to beat Spurs' Dele Alli with are about to be sorely disappointed.

The Tottenham star bagged a brace in Wednesday's stunning 3-1 home victory over Real Madrid and, in doing so, added further weight to the argument that he does come up trumps in huge games against other elite clubs:

That's 10 strikes in matches against teams often described as some of the biggest and best in Europe. Not bad for a 21-year-old who only made his senior bow for MK Dons five years ago!

Alli's sensational rise from League One to scoring against Los Blancos has been amazing and it's no surprise to see some of the most trophy-laden sides casting a glance in his direction.

Will the England international stick with Spurs or move on? Who knows, but for the time being Mauricio Pochettino knows he has someone he can rely on to produce the goods when it matters no matter the opposition.
