Amongst all of the negatives that fans pick out regarding Liverpool's recent defensive woes, left back Alberto Moreno has been something of a bright spot, after earning back his place in the starting lineup after just two starts in the Premier League last season.

The previously maligned defender told reporters that the drive behind his rebirth at Anfield is down to his love of Liverpool.

Moreno believes that it his passion for the club and its fans that has inspired his recent form, as it encouraged him to knuckle down in the summer and train to earn his place back.

Moreno said, as quoted by the The Mirror: "I’m happier now things are going well for me and I’d say so far this has been a decent season for me, if not the best in my career as a professional football player.

"I’m nearly at my best, but none of this comes without very hard work. Helping the side has its roots in the sacrifices you make, the hard work in pre-season and the battling to get back in contention.

"I live for Liverpool. I love Liverpool. I always want to win when I’m wearing the shirt of Liverpool."

Moreno has also insisted that his love for Liverpool means he won't have his heart caught between the Reds and former club Sevilla, when the sides meet in their crucial Champions League group.

"It will be a special game," he added. "if I’m selected to play. Lots of family and friends will be going to watch. Irrespective of the occasion, we’ll be going there to win. I’ll fight hard for victory, like I do every time I pull that shirt on."
