Ilkay Gundogan has explained how Leroy Sane's improved decision making has taken his game onto the next level.

The Manchester City forward has been scintillating form for the Premier League leaders this season with his contribution so far seeing Sane bag eight goals and seven assists in just 17 appearances.

Speaking to SPOX.com (h/t the Independent), Gundogan revealed that the 21-year-old's ability to choose the right moment to shoot or pass has ensured that he is now one of the most feared attackers in Europe, let alone in the UK.

The midfielder said: “He manages to make the right decisions in specific situations more and more often. This makes him extremely dangerous. He is one of the most talented young players I know on earth.

“He integrated himself very well and brings an easy-going attitude to the team, on and off the pitch.”

Gundogan, who plies his trade with Sane with City and the senior German national side, has been working his way back to full fitness after a cruciate knee ligament injury kept him out of action for eight months.

Despite returning to the fray since late August, the 27-year-old has found it tough to break into Pep Guardiola's starting lineup due to how well City's current XI are playing.

It is their frightening form that has led Gundogan to suggest that Guardiola's philosophy and tactics are finally rubbing off on his players, and he backed the Spaniard to continue eking out the best from all of his squad.

Gundogan added: “Maybe Pep has the biggest share of our good run. He finds solutions for every opponent and every single situation and cares about every detail. This makes everything a lot easier for us.

“The way we play stands out on its own: very attractive, very quick, many opportunities, many goals. Right now, it’s great fun to watch us play.

“We are way more dangerous in front of the goal now. Our strikers make a goal from almost every opportunity.

“In combination with our good passing game and dominant football, it is easier for us to dominate the opponents. At some point in the game, the opponent has to react and then we receive even bigger open spaces, we can use.”
