France begins its tune-up for the 2018 World Cup, taking on Euro 2016 semifinalist Wales in Paris on Friday.

France will be one of the favorites in Russia next summer, and it won its World Cup qualifying group to cement its place in the competition and Pot 1 in the Dec. 1 draw for the group stage. Wales, meanwhile, failed to overcome Gareth Bale's absence and fell to Ireland in the final match of group play, falling out of contention for the playoff round and missing out on the competition altogether. 

Wales provides a decent test for star-studded France, which will be leaving a host of quality names behind when it cuts down its World Cup squad.
