Watford star Richarlison has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham, but it wouldn't be a wise move for the youngster according to Ray Wilkins.

The 61-year-old appeared on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning to discuss the £11m summer signing from Fluminese, who has been a hit in the Premier League so far.

The Brazilian, who is still only 20, has managed to score four goals and assist twice in 10 league matches so far, and has more than played his part in the Hornets' surprisingly good start to the new season.

Some of his dynamic performances have supposedly caught the attention of other clubs, one being Spurs, but Wilkins reckons he should stay put and walk before he can run.

He said on the Alan Brazil Sport Breakfast show, as quoted by HITC: "He is a good player for Watford, but if Richarlison goes to Tottenham, he becomes a good player on the bench.

"Look at what you really hope for. He is only a young man. Stay at Watford, play in the first XI and see where your career goes."

It is understood by the Mirror that Tottenham like what they have seen from Richarlison so far, and that club scouts have been in attendance for a number of games.
