West Ham fans have reacted on Twitter after the club were linked with Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, according to HITC Sport.

New Hammers manager David Moyes has targeted 25-year-old Dunk as his first signing as he looks to fix a defence which has conceded 23 goals in 11 games and sits in the relegation zone ahead of his first game as West Ham boss against Watford at the weekend.

Hammers fans have reacted with mostly enthusiastic tweets about the potential transfer, with one saying: "YES please. No way it'll happen in January though. Imagine Reid & Dunk at the back, solid." Another West Ham simply tweeted: "YES, YES, YES!".

There was some negative reaction however, with one fan seeing the Hammers recent link as somewhat of a joke. The user said: "Haha NEXT LEVEL. Thought moving to the OS would mean we’d be signing world class players? Instead we are going after the Brighton cb?"

One further Hammers fan simply put: "Good player" as the Hammers look to move up the table under Moyes, who is expected to be given funds to help improve the squad in January.

Dunk has spent his entire career at Brighton so far, having made his senior debut back in 2010 after coming through the youth system at the Seagulls.
