West Ham's summer recruit Marko Arnautović joined the club with a weight of expectation he has yet to live up to after being bought for a club record fee, but fans were quick to heap praise on the midfielder on social media following the club's 1-1 draw with Leicester on Friday night.
West Ham boss David Moyes had challenged Arnautović earlier in the week as he said the Austrian needed to be more of a team player, and his response to the comments were welcomed by the supporters as his work rate in both attack and defence proved decisive.
The Hammers fell behind after an early goal from Marc Albrighton, but were able to peg the Foxes back just before half-time through Cheikhou Kouyate - earning Moyes his first point as manager.
However, it could have ended in yet another loss for West Ham had Arnautović not made a selfless run in defence to steal the ball from Jamie Vardy who was preparing to unleash a shot inside the penalty box.
The 28-year-old made a similar impact upfront, showing glimpses of the player West Ham thought they had bought from Stoke City in the summer.
Although Arnautović still has a long way to go to justify his £25m price tag, the West Ham supporters were pleased with his performance as he showed signs that he was set to reach the height of his powers under Moyes.
