Antonio Conte believes Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen can cement his place at the club for the next decade and can even become club captain in the future.
The Italian was talking prior to the trip to Manchester United at the weekend, and said the Danish centre-back has a bright future ahead of him.
Christensen, 21, made a an error which proved to be costly against Barcelona on Tuesday evening however Conte seemed to not worry about the mistake that was made and put a positive spin on the situation.
As per the Metro, Conte said: "Personally I forgot this mistake. When you are a player, you can make a lot of mistakes in your career.
"If I had to talk about all the mistakes I made in my career, we’d have to be here for one day. It doesn’t matter."
The Chelsea head coach reflected on the 21-year-olds season so far and highlighted how well he had done since returning from a two-year loan spell in Germany, and has high hopes for the central defender.
"Christensen is having a fantastic season and showing great maturity. For me, apart from the mistake, his performance was great, was wonderful.
"I have a lot of trust in Christensen. This player is a player for the present for Chelsea, and for Chelsea’s future for 10 or 12 years.
"He can also become the captain of this team in the future."
With both Antonio Conte and Andreas Christensen coming out after Barcelona and stating that they have already moved on his positive signs for Chelsea, no dwelling on negative experiences.
They'll need to be compact and hard to break down at the weekend as the array of talent that Manchester United have, will punish any error Chelsea make.
