Frank Lampard could be without Christian Pulisic for the Blues' visit to Manchester City at the weekend.

The American has been in fine form in recent weeks for Chelsea, scoring five goals in his previous three Premier League outings.

According to Premier Injuries, the 21-year-old has a 50% chance of being fit for the trip up north against Pep Guardiola's men.

Pulisic was forced to miss the international break with the USA, with coach Gregg Berhalter confirming his absence.

"Christian is officially at this stage ruled out. We just got that information. This was a collaborative decision with the club looking after the best interest of the player.

"These decisions are always difficult because this group and the coaching staff want nothing more than to have Christian here, but it was a risk we weren’t willing to take at this time."

He was taken off in the Blues' most recent win against Crystal Palace immediately after doubling Frank Lampard's side's lead for a hip injury, which the Chelsea head coach confirmed post-match.

"The only frustration is he comes off with a bit of an injury, which he was going to get subbed off for before his goal," he said. "He's got a bit of a hip issue but I'm hoping it's not too bad because the way he's in full flow at the minute is great to see."

Frank Lampard will be eager to have Christian Pulisic available for a crucial encounter on Saturday, but they will have to face an anxious wait over his fitness ahead of the match at the weekend.
