Chelsea were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening at the hands of Manchester United, after a Marcus Rashford brace sealed a third straight away win for Ole Gunnar Solskjær's men.
Six changes were made to the Chelsea lineup for the cup tie, as Frank Lampard looked to give some of his squad a rest on Wednesday evening.
Still without Emerson Palmieri, N'Golo Kante, Antonio Rudiger and Ross Barkley, Lampard gave an update on when the quartet could return to action.
"Emerson, I am hoping within the next couple of games. N'Golo, possibly for Ajax, potentially Palace. Toni, I am not sure. He is still having some issues. Ross, hopefully at the weekend."
The Chelsea boss also admitted he wanted to give Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic rests on Wednesday, after the ever-present captain Cesar Azpilicueta was given the night off to rest.
Jorginho has started all 13 games in the Premier League and Champions League this season, whilst Mateo Kovacic has featured in all 13.
"I would have liked to give Jorginho in particular and Kovacic a rest tonight as well because of what they have been putting in, the endurance of the season, but I couldn’t because of N’Golo, Ross and Ruben out long-term. He [Loftus-Cheek]’s on the road but a fair way away.
"We couldn’t make those changes I would have wanted to today but it is what it is’."
Despite Chelsea's winning streak coming to an end, Lampard will be buoyed on with his squad depth set to increase in the coming games and weeks as the busy Christmas schedule starts to loom.
