Chelsea v Manchester City - Team News, Line-Up and Score Prediction

Matt Debono

Chelsea are back in league action this Saturday, following an impressive, and well deserved away win to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night. They face Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in the late kick-off.

Both sides cruised to victory in the Premier League last weekend with Chelsea battering Stoke away from home, and City brushing Crystal Palace aside 5-0. As it stands, City are sitting at the top of the table, meanwhile the Blues just behind in third.

Last year, Chelsea did something no other side has done before, and that was to do the double over a Pep Guardiola managed side. The first of them being, arguably one of Conte's most impressive away wins since he's taken over, rivalled with Wednesday nights performance, where the Blues came from one behind to seal a 3-1 victory, with goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard. The last fixture between the clubs at the Bridge came in April, where Conte came out a 2-1 winner once again. City should have hope though, with the last five meetings in the Premier League giving either side two victories, and one game settled as a score draw.

Team News

Chelsea come into this, once again, with not many absentees. Drinkwater is the obvious one to be missing, alongside David Luiz, who serves his final match of his suspension following his red card against Arsenal. Pedro looks set to come back into contention, and Eden Hazard fighting for a starting place after being a stand out player, as usual, in midweek. Christensen looks like he will come in for Luiz as well. Morata is fully fit despite being seen limping after the Atletico game.

City will be out with a few key players. New signing Benjamin Mendy has been ruled out until around April with an ACL injury. Sergio Aguero will miss the game, after he was in a car crash in Amsterdam, breaking a rib in the process.

We wish the pair of them speedy recoveries.

Although Chelsea have had one less day to prepare for this game, with the Blues being at home, I think they will get something out the game. With the confidence sky-high they have, City do as well, I just think it will be hard to beat this Chelsea side.
