The 21-year-old American produced a fine, and flair-filled performance against the Eagles on Saturday.

He scored four in the previous two games for the Blues, and he bagged another with his head on a wet afternoon at Stamford Bridge.

But after doubling Chelsea's lead, the American was immediately taken off by Frank Lampard for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Chelsea boss confirmed the reasoning for taking the goalscorer off, and admitted Pulisic has picked up a hip problem.

"I thought he was first-class today, as he has been recently. Energy, movement of the ball, slipping past people, working off the ball and the quality. He's getting into areas and scoring in and around the six-yard box, which I think is a huge thing for any wide player."

"The only frustration is he comes off with a bit of an injury, which he was going to get subbed off for before his goal," he said. "He's got a bit of a hip issue but I'm hoping it's not too bad because the way he's in full flow at the minute is great to see."

An injury which Frank Lampard will be hoping there is nothing more to it, after Chelsea have had to suffer injury after injury to their side this season.

Chelsea climbed into second after the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, and Christian Pulisic wants his side to continue to move up the table.

"Not bad at all!," said the 21-year-old on the win. "We want to be right up there at the top and we want to keep going."

That was the first time since May 2017 that Chelsea picked up six consecutive wins in the Premier League.

It's been a superb week for Chelsea. Two Premier League victories, a stunning comeback in the Champions League and a Manager of the Month award for Frank Lampard.

After the international break, Chelsea's fixtures don't get easier - Manchester City await Frank Lampard's side.
